Wallace Reed Simms, 79, of Waldorf, MD, died March 4, 2010, at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Center, Lexington Park, MD.

Mr. Simms was in the United States Army in the Korean era and was a self-employed musician (lead guitar, saxophone, fiddle) for 40 years. He started playing music in 1948 in Ohio, moved to Washington, DC to play music in 1958. He played and lived in P.G. County from 1969 through 1988 and has lived in Charles County since 1988. He was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, ham radio operator, and enjoyed electronics repairs.

Born December 15, 1930, in Harlan, KY, he was the son of the late William H. Simms and the late Mary Margaret Crowley Simms.

Predeceased by his parents.

Survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Sue Bean Simms; daughters, Linda (Cindy) Simms Williams, Bonita Simms Hoover, and Kimberly Jean Simms; brothers, Ed, Dennis, and Bill Simms. Also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 5-8 PM with funeral service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Interment will be at a later date.
