![]() Evelyn L. Jacobs, 88, of Prince Frederick, MD died March 6, 2010 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. She was born June 13, 1921 in Tatum, South Carolina to Samuel E. and Mary Jane Coates Caulder.
She was raised in Bennettsville, SC and graduated from Bennettsville High School. She moved to New Jersey where she met and married Joseph M. Jacobs. They later lived in the Bronx, NY where she was a homemaker, raising two children. In 1955 she moved with her family to Silver Spring, MD where she worked as a bakery salesclerk and decorator, and later worked at Prudential Bank and Computer Sciences Corporation at NASA as a keypunch operator, retiring as a computer operator. She moved to Prince Frederick upon her retirement in 1987. Her husband Joseph died October 14, 1968. Evelyn was a former member of the Sligo Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tacoma Park, MD. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley, and also was fond of dancing and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, brothers Sanford Caulder, Walter Courtney and Stanley Caulder, and a great-granddaughter Sabrina Barony. She is survived by a daughter Geraldine J. Fowler (husband Ray) of Prince Frederick, a son John E. Jacobs (life partner Matt) of Holiday, FL, grandchildren Mary Barony (Steve) of Great Mills, MD, Joseph N. Elliott (Sheila) of Sunderland, MD, Jeffrey M. Elliott and Rebecca L. Bowen (Ronnie), all of Prince Fredrick. Also surviving are thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday March 11, 2010 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
