Edith May McKenzie, 90, died March 2, 2010 at the Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Fredrick, MD where she had resided for the past five years. Edith was born May 16, 1919 in the Willows, Chesapeake, MD to Thomas Lee and Lillian Hooper Chaney. She was raised in Calvert County, attended public school, and later married Herbert E. McKenzie.

Edith was a homemaker, a very good cook, and was accomplished in gardening and canning. She enjoyed spending time with family, was a babysitter for several years, and enjoyed assisting her neighbors when they were in need of help.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, a son Herbert E. McKenzie, Jr. and a daughter Betty J. McKenzie, brothers Lawrence Chaney and Herman Cochrane, and a sister Myrtle Perfitt.

She is survived by a daughter Shirley M. Nowottnick and husband John of Prince Frederick, a son Thomas W. McKenzie and wife Terry of Pensacola, FL, a brother Clarence Cochrane of Kent Island, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
