Mrs. Viola Walker departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2010. Born to the union of the late Fate and Viola Simpkins on August 15, 1924 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.

Viola was an accomplished hairstylist, seamstress and highly sought after private duty nurse. She loved working and helping others. She always displayed an extremely high level of patience, understanding and care. A truly unique individual who very plainly spoke so that what she said was clearly understood. She referred to her son with great joy as "my one and only" and showed him the highest degree of love her entire life. She was truly a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great great grandmother. Both family and friends knew they could always call on Viola for help. She never looked down on anyone and always made a special effort to be or have a positive impact on everyone she met. She had, what only could be described as a dynamite sense of humor and so her grandchildren nicknamed her "Grandma Dynamite". Her smile was always genuine and her laugh loud and full of life. It filled any room and if you were near her you couldn't help but do the same. Her soul was filled with kindness so it was all she expressed. Her heart so filled with love she would do anything to help anyone.

Viola Walker, born August 15, 1924. A loving soul left this world as we know it while among family and love ones, in the home of her granddaughter, Mary who refused to let her pass among strangers. Her loving kindness will always be remembered, her presence never forgotten. The genuine love she tirelessly expressed, her quick wit and sense of humor, positive spirit and always encouraging words, will be forever missed. We were blessed to have her with us, as she was blessed with the spirit of strength, determination, strong will and mind. She was always kind, never afraid to speak up when she felt it was needed, a God fearing woman who always tried to tell the truth, do what was right, and influence others to do the same. She left a mark on the hearts and minds of everyone she met because the love she showed was so inspirational.

While we must let you go and say goodbye, we do not say it with sadness because you are with God now. We hope to be there with God and with you. Also mom, grand mom, granny, great grand mom, great great grandma and grandma dynamite we love you, may God bless you and keep you and rest in peace.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Walker and grandson Leroy Walker.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her son, Leroy Walker Sr.; daughter, Dorothy Butler; daughter-in-law, Marion Walker; son-in-law, Bernard Butler; grandchildren, Robert Walker, Bernadette Walker and Mary Walker-Thompson; great-grandchildren, Brenon Price, Lisa Walker, Marion Walker, Robert Walker Jr., David Walker, Erin Walker and Joshua Walker; great-great grandchild, Jalen Walker; brother, Raymond Simpkins; sisters, Pearline Baldwin and Barbara Jackson; sisters-in-law, Katie Simpkins, Mattie Ballard, Carrie Buckman, Eva Buckman and Mamie Cower; brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Baldwin and Clyde Walker and a host of other relatives, family and friends.
