![]() Moses Junior Simpkins 56, of Marbury, MD was born to the late Moses and Mattie Ella Simpkins on December 10, 1953 and departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.
Moses was born in Washington, D.C. and graduated from the Prince George's County Public School System. Upon graduation, Moses worked at Printers II as a Machinery Operator and later held various other jobs, but developed a passion for repairing lawn mowers and lawn maintenance until the Lord called him home. Moses was well known in the community and was an extremely loving, caring, and generous person. He loved caring for pets, such as dogs, neighborhood cats, and birds. He was an avid lover of sports and his favorite team was the Washington Redskins. He loved music and loved to dance. Moses enjoyed cooking, attending family gatherings and his favorite television shows were Jerry Springer and Sanford and Son. Moses will be especially missed for his smile and laughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Raymond and Judy Mooney and best friend Lionel Thomas.. Left to cherish fond memories are a devoted companion and fiancé Helen Briscoe, three sons, Dewayne Harley, Lawrence and Leonard Brooks, one stepdaughter, Terrilyn Briscoe, three sisters, Mary Jones (George), Janie Simpkins and a twin, Mozella Simpkins, three brothers, James Mooney, Joseph Mooney, and Ronnie Simpkins, one grandchild and three step grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. His viewing will take place on Wednesday, February 24th, 9:00am until time of service 11:00am in the CHAPEL of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD.
