Reverend Jason T. Reynolds was born on December 18, 1966 in Greenport, Long Island, New York to the late Herman Reynolds and Bessie (Reynolds) Swann. Jason was raised in the Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church and was baptized in his early teens. He accepted his calling to the ministry at the age of 19. Jason was educated in the public school system in Greenport, Long Island and graduated with Honors in 1985. He left Greenport to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. where he majored in Mathematics and Accounting. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from Howard University. He was a candidate for his Masters Degree in Accounting at the time of his passing.
Jason became a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Washington DC. and was mentored by the late Rev. Dr. David Durham, Pastor. He became a licensed minister and preached his initial sermon in September 1991. He and his family were recently welcomed into the fellowship at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Marbury, Maryland as Associate Minister. Previously, he served as Associate Minister under the late Pastor Franklin Merritt at Macedonia Baptist Church of Bryans Road, Maryland. Jason began his career in Accounting for the government of the District of Columbia and worked for many years in the Audit Department at Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. He was presently working as the Controller and Director of Operations at the Wheeler Creek Community Development Corporation in Washington D.C.
On April 10, 2001, he met Marcia E. Smith of Arlington, VA. Jason and Marcia shared a love and devotion to one another that was like no other in this world. They were married three years to the date they met on April 10, 2004. The love, passion and devotion they shared will forever change her and the children's lives and will never die. They are the proud parents of four children; Barry (14), Brittany (12), Brenden (9), and Joshua Jason (2).
Jason was a man of integrity, honesty and good will. He was admired, respected and loved by everyone who knew him and was a man who met no strangers. He was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jason was the kindest person you'd ever want to meet. He always had a word of encouragement to share and you never saw him without "his" smile on his face. Jason devoted his life to serving God, his family and pleasing others by spreading his love and joy of life to everyone he met and came in contact with. His smile and joy would shine a light in your heart. Because of his commitment to God, his love, joy, kindness, and encouragement he gave to others and the many lives he touched and changed, his legacy and life will continue to live on forever and ever.
Jason is survived by his loving wife Marcia and their four children, Barry, Brittany, Brendan, and Joshua Jason, parents, Bessie and Frank Swann, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Randell and Joyce Smith, brothers, Herman David Reynolds (Anita), Richard Reynolds (Karla), Frank Swann III (Beatriz) and Michael Swann; sisters, Cynthia Butler (James), Leslie Garner (Jon), Lorna Davis (Kenneth), Donna Riddick (Derrick), Melanie Joseph (Brian) and Nicole Shelby, sisters-in-law, LaVonnia Brown (James), Sylvia Stovall (Phillip), Faith Portillo, brother-in-law, Randell Smith, Jr. (Vanessa) and many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
In addition to his father, Herman Reynolds he was also preceded to glory by his maternal grandmother, Annabell LaBad.
His services were held on Monday, July 10th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Interment Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A.
