![]() Mae Estelle Poe, 76, of Indian Head, MD died February 5, 2010 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Mae was born December 22, 1933 in the District of Columbia, and raised in Prince George's County where she attended public school.
She married Russell L. Poe on September 4, 1954 and they lived in Capitol Heights until moving to Randle Cliffs in Chesapeake Beach, MD in 1968. Mrs. Poe was employed in the offices at the Hub Furniture store in Washington, D.C. for several years, and later at the Safeway grocery store in Forestville and the First National Bank in Deale, MD. She also worked at Dunkirk Business Machines in Dunkirk, MD, an office and business machine supply store owned and operated by her husband. In the late 1980's she retired with her husband to Daytona Beach Florida where they lived until moving to Indian Head, MD just prior to Russell's death in 2005. Mae was an avid sports fan, loved watching NASCAR, Washington Capitals hockey and the Washington Redskins. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Preceded in death by her husband Russell L. Poe, Sr., she is survived by a son Russell L. Poe, Jr. with whom she lived, a daughter Karen A. Wilson and her husband Ted of St. Albans, WV, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister Doris Fowler of Washington, VA, brothers James Leigg of Bowie, MD and John Leigg of Mechanicsville, MD, and a daughter-in-law Deborah Harris of St. Leonard, MD. Services and interment for Mrs. Poe will be private. Arrangements are by Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings, MD. |
