Lawrence Larry Munson was born on August 26, 1954, in Prince George's County, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on May 24, 2006 in Accokeek, Maryland.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, the late Blanche King Munson and the late Charles Luke Munson. Lawrence graduated from Lackey High School in 1973 and was employed in the Construction Industry.
Lawrence, lovingly referred to as "Big Luke," enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Lawrence's passion was his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was very devoted to his daughter. She had no worries in the world because he was always near by to keep her safe. His favorite pastimes included music, shooting pool, playing cards and hanging out at social gatherings. Lawrence had a special devotion to music, especially the Dells "Standing Ovations." Lawrence will be remembered for how he loved to make his secret special punch for social gatherings. At gatherings, Lawrence was the life of the party.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his loving memories two loving children, Timothy L. Brown (Top) and LaShannan J. Brown (Shannie): two grandchildren, Ieshia Gaines and Dionnte Swinson, five brothers, Raymond King Jr., Jerome King, Edward King, the late Harrison King and Le Roy King; four sisters: Atla Brawner, Delores Johnson, Eleanora Travers, Marion Jarmon; one special son - in – law, Mark Gaines, uncles, Thomas Lee Munson and Randolph Bland Sr., one aunt, Eudora Chisley; three special brothers - like - friends: Michael A King, Daryl S. King Sr., and Charles Garris, one special son - like Christopher Brown, a special sister- in- law, Margaret E. King, affectionately known as "Stell," and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. In addition, Lawrence had a life long friendship with the mother of his children, June Brown.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 31st, from 11:00a.m. until time of service 12:00noon at the Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, Rte. 227, Pomonkey, Maryland. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland.
