Robert Theodore Carter, Sr., 75, of La Plata, MD, died February 7, 2010, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.

Mr. Carter was owner and operator of Newtown Concrete Services of which he worked at for 40 years. He is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved traveling the world especially Atlantic City and Dover Downs. Especially enjoyed family vacations in Ocean City. Avid Redskin fan, yard sales, American Idol Show, cooking and oldies but goodies music. Loved being with his family especially at backyard barbeques and all his children worked with him in the concrete business.

Born January 31, 1935, in Nanjemoy, MD, he was the son of the late George Albert Carter, Sr. And the living Bertha V. Coates Carter.

Predeceased by his father.

Survived by mother, Bertha Carter; wife, Mary Carter; six sons, Conrad (Diane Wade) Carter of Waldorf, MD; Robert (Lillian) Carter, Jr. Of La Plata, MD; Jerome (Lisa) Carter of La Plata, MD; Ignatius (Denise) Carter of La Plata, MD; Thaxton (Deborah Short) Carter of Waldorf, MD; Timothy Carter of La Plata, MD; six daughters, Amy (Charles Jute) Barnes of Waldorf, MD; Deborah (Calvin) Thomas of Pomfret, MD; Shelia (Kitwell) Clark, Sr. Of Mechanicsville, MD; Lisa (Roscoe Proctor) Carter of La Plata, MD; Pamela (Bradley) Simms of Pomfret, MD; Cherry (Michael) Fluker of Waldorf, MD. Also survived by seven brothers, Albert Carter of Nanjemoy, MD; Noble Carter of Capital Heights, MD; Henry Carter of NC; James Carter of Clinton, MD; Benjamin Carter of Forestville, MD; Walter Carter of Nanjemoy, MD; Colbert Carter of Waldorf, MD; one sister, Mary Jennifer of CA. Also survived by 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 9-10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 12, 2010, at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD. Fr. Ron Potts will officiate.

Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or Parkinson's Disease.
