Eva Arlene (MeMe) Sanders, 69, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Colonial Beach, VA, died on February 1, 2010 after a brief illness.

Born on December 10, 1940 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Kress Salter and Elizabeth (Betty) Duley. Eva was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading Nora Roberts books and NASCAR Racing. Jeff Gordon #24 was her favorite NASCAR fan. Eva loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survived by her four children, Cathy Shumaker, Jimmy Alderson (Nancy), Steve Alderson (Lynne), and Kelly Raley (Hoppy), grandchildren, Josh Shumaker, Mike Alderson, Amanda Shumaker, Shane Alderson, Ashlee Alderson, and Samantha Raley, a great-grandchild, Landon Gatton. MeMe is also survived by her BFF, Kim Young whom was also her caregiver during her recent illness.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate Eva's Life on Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Joseph Dobson officiating. Interment will follow at Meadow-Brooke Memorial Gardens, 11227 James Madison Parkway, King George, VA.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Mike and Shane Alderson, Josh and Bill Shumaker, Rick Young, and Bill Raley.
