Mr. Phipps graduated from Lackey High School in 1972 and later retired from Safeway. He owned Hairtasia Unisex Haircutters in Waldorf, MD. Mr. Phipps lived life to the fullest; his favorite past-times included traveling, cruises, meeting new people, and trying new foods. His favorite place was the beaches in Hawaii and Florida.

Son of the late George Kline Phipps and the late Ruth Frances Matthew Phipps.

Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert M. Phipps of Aquasco, MD and Gary W. Phipps of Mechanicsville, MD; sister, Barbara A. Short of OK.

Survived by brothers George W. (Colleen) Phipps of Huntington Beach, CA, Raymond E. (Mellissa) Phipps of Pomfret, MD, Dennis E. Phipps of Mechanicsville, MD, and Thomas A. Phipps of Mechanicsville, MD; sisters, Shirley L. (John) Fox of Accokeek, MD, and Carolyn L. Levia of NC. Also survived by nine nieces, 8 nephews, and Christy Cornette, a close personal friend.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2010, from 5-8PM at New Hope Church and Ministry Center, 4200 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.

Funeral Service will be Friday, January 29, 2010, at 1PM at New Hope Church and Ministry Center.

Pallbearers will be Robert Phipps, Jr., Patrick Phipps, Joshua Phipps, Gary Phipps, Jr., Joshua Gartland, and Michael Fox.

Interment will be Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
