James William English, age 72, of Lexington Park, MD died January 24, 2010. He was born September 8, 1937 in Washington, DC to Joseph Patrick and Julia Rebecca (Crenshaw) English.

Bill, as he was known as a child, was educated in Washington, DC and Calvert County Schools. He joined the DC Air National Guard in 1954 and the United States Air Force in 1955 serving in the 7th Organizational Maintenance Squad with 2 years of duty in Japan before discharged in 1959.

James was married to Joyce E. Reynolds on May 22, 1971 in Trinity Lutheran Church Washington, DC. They resided in Cheltenham and Mechanicsville before moving to Lexington Park in 2006. Mr. English was employed by PEPCO for over 35 years before retiring in 1994 due to his health.

Surviving are his wife Joyce E. English and daughter Nora Marie English both of Lexington Park, MD. Sisters Nora L. Landreth of Washington, DC, Joyce A. Waldridge and husband Gary of Albaton, KY and Betty J. Elkins and husband Michon of Augusta, KS and a brother George E. English of Pekin, IL.

He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph P English, Jr. and Frank H. English.

He is also survived by 6 nieces, 4 nephews, 13 grand nieces and 6 grand nephews, 1 great grand niece and numerous cousins.

Jim will be fondly remembered for his faithful and abiding love for his wife and daughter, his Christian life, his love of children, his soft southern accent, impish sense of humor and his 35 years of service with PEPCO.
