Stephen George Gianacopolos, 73, of Mechanicsville, MD died on December 30, 2009 at Washington Hospital Center.

Born on July 4, 1936 in Connecticut, he was the son of the late George and Ethel Gianacopolos.

A graduate of the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, CT, he was in the Food Service Industry for many years and retired as a Food Service Manager for St. Mary's County Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist from 1958-1961. He was an excellent chef and an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. He loved all animals, especially his dogs and cats.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia L. Conley Gianacopolos, three children, a stepson, sister, Bessie Patsouris of Wayland, Massachusetts, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings, James, Arthur, and Janet.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on January 13, 2010 at Arlington National Cemetery.
