George Kenneth Winters, 46, of La Plata, MD, died December 29, 2009, in La Plata.

Mr. Winters was the youngest of Joseph and Ella Winters' seven children. Kennis, as he was affectionately referred, graduated from the Charles County Public School system. Upon graduation, Kennis worked a variety of jobs until he developed a passion for landscaping, which he did up until the last year of his life. He was an extremely loving, caring, and generous person. He loved children immensely and those feelings were reciprocated by the many children in his family. He was an avid lover of sports and his favorite team was the Washington Redskins. He also loved music and loved to dance. Kennis' favorite pastime was playing cards and he was very good at it. Kennis will be especially missed by his father, Joseph, with whom he used to sit and talk for hours on end.

Born February 18, 1962, in La Plata, MD, he was the son of Joseph Matthews Winters and Ella Lee Winters.

Predeceased by brothers, David and Richard; uncles, Henry, Thomas, George, and John; aunts, Elizabeth, Jennie, Mary Anne, and Lucille; Sherman and Mary Jane Watts.

Survived by his parents, Joseph and Ella; son, Brandon Winters; brothers, Joseph Winters, Jr., Francis and his wife Cynthia Winters, Robert and his wife Sephra Winters, Larry Winters, Louis Adams, James Adams, and Michael Winters; sisters, Linda Adams, Yvonne and her husband Kenneth Mock, Mary, and Rosie; uncles, Alec, Francis, and William; aunts, Hildergarde and Alice; nephews, Robin, Stacy, Stephanie, Ebony, Terrilynn, Melissa, Tiffine, Ka Trina, Katreice, Marcella, Jennifer, and Maria; devoted friend, Grace Knott; best friend, John Riley; longtime friend, Nancy and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2010, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, with Remembrances at 10:00 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at 10:30 AM.

Fr. Ron Potts will officiate.

Interment will be at the church cemetery.
