On Wednesday, December 13, 2006, the Lord called Louis E. Bennett to his heavenly home. He was born April 16, 1932 in White Plains, MD to the late William Albert and Florence Bennett.

His education was in the Charles County public school system. After serving in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, he was honorably discharged on the 8th day of December 1960. He was employed with Willet Brother's Construction for over 40 years. Upon retirement he went to work at the A&P store which later became Super Fresh as well as the Charles County Government. He also had a trash removal service which he performed with the utmost pride and he made many friends along the way while doing this until his health declined.

Louis had a special love for gardening, home repairs and watching the Washington Redskins. Most of all he loved visiting with his family and friends, "hanging out" at Joe's Store and Jimmy's Paddock while playing his lottery numbers. Traveling to distant places and attending family functions were other activities he enjoyed.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary E. Briscoe (Lizzie), Alene Bennett and Pauline Carter; brothers, George, Ernest and William Bennett. Survivors include sisters, Helen Bolden and Gertrude Carter; brother, Leon Bennett, all of Washington, DC. Also three surviving sisters-in-law, Eliza, Mary, and Ethel Bennett; a devoted niece Agnes Todd (affectionately call "Aunt Sally" by Uncle Louis) and a devoted nephew, Joseph Briscoe; four generations of nieces, nephews as well as a host of other relatives.

The Viewing and Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph's Way Pomfret, Maryland.
Viewing 10:00 am; Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am.
