![]() Herbert Leroy Sharper, Jr., age 83, of Huntingtown, MD died December 30, 2009. He was born December 2, 1926 in Oxon Hill MD to Herbert L. and Mabel Margaret (Nesius) Sharper.
He was educated in Prince Georges schools and after graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy were he was a Watertender Third Class from 1945-1946. He remained in the Navy reserve until 1954. Herbert was married to Florine B. Kite in Prince Georges County on March 2, 1946 and they made their home in Bradbury Heights, MD until moving to Calvert County in 1974. Florine died April 14, 2000. Herbert was employed as a cabinetmaker at Walter Reed Army Medical Center until his retirement in the early 1970's. On October 2, 2000 he married Bertha V. McKenny at North Beach Union Church. Herbert attended All Saints Episcopal Church in Sunderland and was a member of Train Collectors of America. He was a woodworker who enjoyed building grandfather clocks, making end tables, coffee tables and doll shelves, as well as refinishing player pianos. He also enjoyed fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, baseball and country music. Surviving are his wife Bertha Sharper of Huntingtown, MD daughters Linda Harbin (Mike) of Surprise, AZ and twins Bonnie Windsor of Huntingtown, MD and Connie Baldwin of Lusby, MD; grandchildren David and Brian Harbin of AZ, Steve Windsor (Regina) of Capitol Heights, MD, Laura Quinn (Christopher) of Lusby, MD, Robert Baldwin (Trina) of Lusby, MD and William Baldwin of Chesapeake Beach, MD.
