![]() Elbie V. Chambers of La Plata, MD, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Civista Medical Center. She was 97 years old.
Mrs. Chambers was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and Eutaw Forest Archery Club. She worked at the Washington Monument and was past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church of which she was very proud. She enjoyed playing bridge and bowling and spent winters in Florida. She loved gardening especially her prized roses. Enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born April 24, 1912, in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Frank Vrusula and the late Mary Urban. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Howard N. Chambers, Sr.; son, Lester R. Chambers. Survived by her sons, Howard N. Chambers, Jr. of Roanoke, VA; George E. Chambers of La Plata, MD; brothers, George Urban of Petersburg, VA; William Urban of Petersburg, VA; sisters, Rose Wasson of CA; Mary Ryan of Petersburg, VA. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Visitation on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, from 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 (301-934-2920) where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, beginning at 11AM. Rev. Mike Hilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Adam Chambers, Logan Chambers, Scott Chambers, Rod Hunsberger, Dale Chambers and John Petty. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Waldorf, MD. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
