James Kidd "Jim" Humphreys, II, 60, of La Plata, MD, died November 23, 2009, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, MD.

Jim was an Environmental Program Manager at Naval Ordnance Station, Indian Head, MD, since 1991. Prior to his government work he worked for Charles County Parks and Recreation for 20 years. He was a long time volunteer and past director of the Charles County Special Olympics. He is a past board member of HARC. Longtime coach of basketball, soccer, volleyball, referee, pool operator and lifeguard for Charles County Recreation. He enjoyed nature, basketball, sports, running, his pets, fitness and the environment and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata.

Born December 31, 1948, in Morgantown, WV, he was the son of Clayton Humphreys and Phyllis Jean High Humphreys.

Predeceased by his brother, David Humphreys.

Survived by his parents; his wife, Jean Marie Humphreys; son, James "Kyle" Humphreys of La Plata, MD; daughter, Erin M. Humphreys of Wilmington, NC; sister, Carol Jean and her husband Steve Linn of Canton, OH.

Visitation will be Monday, November 30, 2009, from 5-7PM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 30, at 7PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Fr. Ron Potts will officiate.

Interment will be at a later date in Wilmington, NC.
