Richard Bernard Washington was born on October 20, 1917 to the late George & Eleanor Washington. He was the eldest son of 11 children. He married Regina Cecilia Gray, daughter of the late George & Mary Gray, on April 22, 1944 in Indian Head, Maryland. To this union were born five children.

Upon graduating from High School he worked as a supply clerk in the Civilian Conservation Corp known as the C.C.C. in Hanover County. Richard went on to work in the Federal Government as an exemplary cement finisher and brick layer who took pride in his trade. He retired after 32 years from the Indian Head Naval Ordinance Station but continued in his profession until the age of 80. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and joined the John F. Kennedy Knights of Columbus of Accokeek, MD where he became a Fourth Degree Member. He enjoyed playing his guitar, working in his yard, playing pool, working on scenery puzzles, crossword puzzles and challenging his wife (Regina) to a game of dominos everyday (and anyone else who walked through his door).

Richard will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We have been truly blessed to have had our Dad, grandfather and great grandfather here on earth for 92 years. He will always be in our hearts!
