George William "Willie" Collinson, age 95, died November 18, 2009 at his residence in Huntingtown, MD. Willie was born September 12, 1914 in Churchton, MD to William and Minnie Kirchner Collinson. He was raised in Churchton and graduated from the former Tracey's High School in Tracy's Landing, MD.

He married Anna Mae Darnall on December 11, 1939, and they lived in Churchton, later moving to Deale where they operated and resided above a grocery store. In 1951, after selling the grocery store, they built their home in Rest Haven, a waterfront community in Deale where they resided until moving to Huntingtown in 1980.

Mr. Collinson served as an Electricians Mate 3rd Class in the US Navy from 1944-45 during WWII. He was employed most of his working life as a lumber and hardware buyer and salesman, beginning at the W.M. Thomas Lumber Co. in Churchton, which became Crestwood Lumber Co. and later Smith Building Supply. He retired in the early 1980's. Mr. Collinson was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Deale. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, bowling and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Mae on January 22, 2002, and by his daughter-in-law Kaaren R. Collinson in 2005.

He is survived by a son Thomas W. Collinson of Shady Side, and by grandchildren Debra L. Giacalone of N. Ft. Myers, FL, Dee A. Anderson of Shady Side and Greg W. Collinson of Owings. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-granddaughters.
