Alma Lee (Rawlinson) Hamilton, 80, of Hughesville, MD died on November 18, 2009 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Also known as "Nana", Ms. Hamilton enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and crossword puzzles. She worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1992. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and took great pride in her family.

Born July 2, 1929 in Sylacauga, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Rawlinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Rawlinson; her granddaughter, Mitzie Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, James Arthur Morton and Wayne Daniel Johnson.

She grew up in a community of many relatives who all lived very close to each other. One of her favorite things to do as a child was go to the homes of her various relatives, see what each was having for dinner, and join the most appealing one. During her life, Ms. Hamilton visited many parts of the United States. One of her most memorable trips was to Niagara Falls, New York on her honeymoon with her husband over 46 years ago. Over time, her favorite place to be was her home in Hughesville.

Ms. Hamilton is survived by her husband, Jack, Sr., of Hughesville; her children, Belinda Pierce of Mechanicsville, Sharon Garner and her husband Jeff of La Plata, and Jack, Jr. of White Plains; her grandchildren, Sherri Morton of Clements, James Hamilton of Waldorf, Andrew Spalding and his wife Katie of Indian Head, and Brandon Garner of La Plata; and her great-grandchildren, Billy Johnson of Mechanicsville and Amber Morton of Clements.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Garner, Joe Garner, James Hamilton, Billy Johnson, Wayne Johnson and Andrew Spalding.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 9-11 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where a Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Ron Potts. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
