On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland, William Joseph Barber departed this life for life eternal. William was born on December 1, 1929 in Wicomico, Maryland. He was last living child of the late Maggie Marie Middleton Barber and the late Joseph Barber. He attended the Charles County Public Schools. After school, William showed his patriotism by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War Era. His civilian career was with the Federal Government and after many dedicated years of service, on November 30, 1992 he retired from the U.S. Army Belvoir R & D Center, Maintenance Division in Fort Belvoir, Virginia . He was married to the late Eleanor V. Barber who passed in September 2003. Not only was William a husband but also a beloved father to daughter, Mary. William enjoyed being a member of the Mason Hiram Lodge No.4 and was active for seventeen years. In addition to his parents, and loving wife, Eleanor, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louise Barber Barnes, brothers, John Lewis Middleton, James Milton Hicks and James Elwood Barber. Left to cherish fond memories are his daughter, Mary Elizabeth Brown, granddaughter, Pamela Maria Brown, great grandson, Edward Quantrell Love, III, a special niece, Christine Fenwick, a special nephew, James Barber and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
