James Benjamin Washington, Jr., 69, of Indian Head, MD, died November 5, 2009, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata.

Mr. Washington was a laborer for the Naval Ordnance Station -NSWC and Beretta. He enjoyed playing cards especially Poker, Spades and other card games; casino and playing Keno. He loved his church, New Hope Ministries, where he was an usher and a great witness for the Lord.

Born August 14, 1940, in Wayside, MD, he was the son of the late James Benjamin Washington, Sr. And the late Glenda Edna Mae Hemsley.

Predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald Washington; sister, Juanita Clark.

Survived by his wife Shirley M. Washington; sons, James Chase; Jason Washington; Antwon Washington; daughters, Bridget Govan, and Syiassa Washington; brothers, Thomas Washington, John Bowman, and Alvin Jordan; nephews, Darrell Clark and Donald Washington, Jr.; niece, Stephanie Clark. Also survived by nine grandchildren, JaVon Johnson, Brittany Coffee, Destinee Davis, Deshaunee Washington, Bruce Proctor, Jr., Shameka Cooper, William Thomas, Clifton Goldring, and James Chase, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, JaDell Webster, Armani Givens, Monae Givens, Jazzmyn Givens, Elijah Thomas, Jaylyn Thomas, Dominique Thomas, Malichi Thomas, and Jabari Goldring.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 14, 2009, 9AM to 11AM at New Hope Ministries, 4200 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 14, 2009, 11AM, at New Hope Ministries.

Pastor Steve Bullon will officiate.

Interment will be at Heritage Memorial Park, Waldorf, MD.
