![]() Stanley Leo Kingsbury, 84, died November 2, 2009 at his daughter's home in Chesapeake Beach, MD. He was born August 25, 1925 in Washington, D.C.
He was raised in the District and graduated from Anacostia High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943 until his discharge in 1946 as a Quartermaster 3rd Class. He served aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Stern, and was awarded the European, Pacific and American Theater Ribbons, and the WWII Victory Medal. He married Dorothea Kingsbury on August 26, 1949, and they lived and raised their family in the Washington D.C. area until moving to North Beach in 2006. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 9619, Capitol Heights, MD where he served as Post Commander in 1973 and took care of memorials for fellow members. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum. He was a Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed playing golf. He also worked taking care of the grounds at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothea, a son Ronald Kingsbury and wife Kay of North Beach, daughter Donna McNally and husband Michael of Chesapeake Beach, sons Richard Kingsbury of Naples, FL and Bradley Kingsbury of Owings, twin daughters Janice Frederickson of North Beach and Joyce Johnson and Jeff of LaPlata, MD, and a son Brian Kingsbury of Chesapeake Beach.
