Mr. Hancock was a Self-employed farmer/ fisherman in Nanjemoy hi entire life. He was a veteran of the United States Army (Specialist 1st Class), having served during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Maryland Point Baptist Church, the Perseverance Lodge #208 of the Masons, and the Grace Chapter #21 of the Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Future Framers of America and the Nanjemoy Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, being with family and friends, and celebrating the holidays.

He was son of the late Gerald Sydney Hancock and Anna Lucille Hancock

He was predeceased by his father, and one brother, Mark A. Hancock

He is survived by his mother, Anna Lucille Bastain Hancock, his wife, Nancy Lynn Hancock, one son, Steven A."Andy" (Shannon) Hancock of Mechanicsville, MD, three daughters, Holly (Todd) Good of Indian Head, MD, April (Donald) Davis of Nanjemoy, MD, and Ann M. Hancock of Nanjemoy, MD, one brother, Gerald W. Hancock, three sisters, Judith "Toogey" (Bob) Berger of Nanjemoy, MD, Brenda A. (Dale) Gilroy in Ripley, MD, and Joyce (Bob) Johnson of New York. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Grace, Ethan, Clint, Lacie, Cole, and Sadie Davis, and Taylor and Tessah Good.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with wake service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. An additional viewing will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 10am till Service time at 11am at Nanjemoy Baptist Church, Nanjemoy, MD.

Clergy will be the Rev. James Cunningham.

Interment will follow at Nanjemoy Baptist Church Cemetery, Nanjemoy, MD.

Pallbearers will be Donald Davis, Todd Good, Keith Bryan, Chris Dobry, Wayne Hancock, and Matthew Gilroy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
