Herbert G. Tice, Sr.; 67, of Mechanicsville, MD, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at his home after a prolonged illness. Born February 26, 1942 in Annapolis, MD, he was the son of the late Josiah H. and Lottie (Chaney) Tice.

Herb is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary "Doll" Burroughs Tice, his children Tracey Siegel of Ocean Pines, MD; Charlotte Gadomski (Mark) of Charleston, SC; Herbert G. Tice, Jr. (Darlene) of Mechanicsville, MD; and Dennis R. Tice (Tammy) of Lusby, MD.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Mac, Herby, Eliza, Alyssa, Madeline, and Dennis; a brother Josiah H. Tice, Jr. of Wye Mills, MD; and sister Nell Armiger of Palm Bay, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Susie Tice and Sally Beck.

Although Herb was self employed in the retail furniture business for over 40 years, his favorite line of work was auctioneering with his late friend Dick Arnold. Herb was fondly known as a "workaholic" but he also enjoyed politics and thoroughly enjoyed the large gatherings of friends and family on the holiday, crab feasts at "the creek" or any opportunity to make a new friend.

Friends may gather on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD. His Life Celebration will be on Wednesday October 14th at 12 Noon at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Chapel.
