Leyoma Thomas, 63, of California, MD died October 10, 2009 at Washington Hospital Center.

Born August 28, 1946 in Ansonville, NC, she was the daughter of Sam Wilson and Bernice Thomas of Baltimore, MD.

Leyoma received her formal education in Anson County, NC and later graduated from the Baltimore City Public School System. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age.

Leyoma united in holy matrimony to Vernon I. Thomas on August 21, 1976 in Baltimore, MD and shared her life with him for thirty-three years. God blessed this union with one child, Travis A. Thomas. Most recently employed at Dyncorp in inventory management, she was a dedicated employee who enjoyed her work and co-workers.

Affectionately known as "Tinkie", she was loving, caring, and outgoing. Tinkie enjoyed sports, especially football and frequently participated in football pools. Her favorite television show was "Dancing with the Stars". One of her favorite things to do was to converse with family and friends regardless of time or subject matter.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory; husband, Vernon, son, Travis, parents, Sam Wilson and Bernice Thomas of Baltimore, MD, one sister, Clementine Thomas of Baltimore, MD, three brothers, Sherman L. Thomas of Charlotte, NC, Leon and Anthony W. Thomas of Baltimore, MD, three sisters-in-law, Carolyn Thomas of Charlotte, NC, Debra Thomas of Baltimore, MD, and Juanita Marsh of Suitland, MD, four brothers-in-law, Wilson Akindojutimi of Mitchellville, MD, Joseph R. Thomas and Anthony L. Thomas of California, MD, and Vincent M. Thomas of Santa Maria, CA, one aunt, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend, Phyllis Bradford.

Tinkie was the eldest of seven children. Loving family members preceding her in death; two sisters, Tysonia Thomas and Minnine Lorraine Akindojutimi, parents-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Thomas, and one brother-in-law, Phillip R. Thomas.

Family will receive friends for Leyoma's Life Celebration on Saturday, October 17, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Bryan, Joseph Thomas, Jr., Michael Thomas, Charles Countess, William Baines, and Brad Sarratt. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilson Akindojutimi, Warren Sears, Gene Bryan, John Mason, Lawrence Hatton and Alphonso Trotman.
