Paul Vincent Montgomery, 88 of Benedict, MD died October 4, 2009. Born January 18, 1922 in Chaptico, MD, he was the son of the late C.B. Montgomery and Viola Dixon Montgomery.

Mr. Montgomery farmed until the age of 17. He joined the U.S Navy and served 4 years. After his discharge from the Navy, he helped establish the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and was one of two founders of the Jameson-Harrison American Legion Post #238. He worked at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and then Andrews AFB as a welder. He enjoyed trap shooting. He was a member of the American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Randolph, Alexander and Reginald Montgomery; sisters, Norma Jean Montgomery, Lorraine Johnson, Imogene Clark and Vertie Goldsmith.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Montgomery; brothers, Leroy (Barbara), James (Maxine), Joseph (Annie) and Benedict ( Judy) Montgomery; sisters, Gwendolen Knisley, Evelyn St. Armand (Steve) and Lillia Hardy; sister in law, Ann Montgomery; and 26 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 where a service will be held at 7:00p.m.by members of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 9, 2009 at 11:00a.m. at Old Fields Episcopal Church, Hughesville, MD. Interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Tuesday, October, 13, 2009 at 2:00p.m.
