Edward Jerome Marshall quietly departed this life on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his home in Pomonkey, Maryland after a brief illness. Jerome, as he was affectionately called, was born April 21, 1919 in Pomonkey, Maryland to the late James G. Marshall and the late Maude Blair Marshall.

He received his education in the Charles county public school system and was a Laborer by trade working in the field of Construction.

Jerome was united in marriage on July 26, 1941 to the late Dorothy Smoot Marshall. Out of this union ten children were born. Jerome enjoyed the simpler things in life. He spent his time tending to his garden, maintaining his lawn, and playing along with the contestants on Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune. He was also a die-heart Baltimore Orioles fan. For spiritual nourishment, he often watched the late Reverend Patterson as well as the Bobby Jones Gospel hour on Sundays. His greatest joy, however, came from being in his new home where he would spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his beloved wife, Dorothy, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; James, Frances, Burtrum, Mack and Joe, and his sisters, Faith, Bernice, Alice, Ellen and Alma.

Left to cherish loving memories are his ten children Diane, Brenda, Betty, Sheila, Edward Jr., James, Tony, Alvin, Andre, and Joe; two brothers, John and Joe; two sons-in-law, Bernard Walls and Joe Keys; two daughters-in-law, Tina and LaKeisha Marshall, 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, September 16th, 9:00am until his Memorial Services begin 11:00, at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD.

Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home.
