Fred Scott Davis, 53, of Dunkirk, MD died Thursday September 3, 2009 at Prince Georges Hospital in Cheverly, MD. Fred was born June 16, 1956 at Prince George's Hospital, and raised in Upper Marlboro, MD where he attended Tanglewood Elementary and Frederick Sasscer Junior and Frederick Douglas High Schools.
He married Mary Katherine Herber on March 9, 1977, and they lived and raised their family in Upper Marlboro until moving to Mimosa Cove in Deale, MD in 1989, and to Dunkirk in 2006. Fred was an accomplished carpenter and contractor, and operated Davis Brothers Construction Company for many years. He was a professional rodeo bareback rider from the 1970's until the early 1990's, and was a Delmarva American Rodeo Association champion several times. He loved playing golf, and was especially active at Twin Shields Golf Course in Dunkirk, MD. He was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary Katherine Davis, daughters Christina Marie and Erika Lynn Davis, and a grandson August D. Smith, all of Dunkirk. He is also survived by his father Fred Davis of Ocala, FL, his mother Kaye Stack of Federalsburg, MD, a sister Sherri K. Davis of North Beach, brothers Dale W. Davis of Shady Side and Warren W.
