Marie G. Allen, 78, of La, Plata, died August 21, 2009 following a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. A retired Life Services Representative for USF&G, she was active with her husband Jim in both the Waldorf and Annapolis Elks.

Born July 13, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Carolyn Moroney and William Nolan. Prior to relocating to La Plata in 1994, Marie enjoyed Southern California, where she raised her son, Joe. Marie's joyously infectious spirit was apparent to all fortunate enough to make her acquaintance. Her favorite pastimes included traveling with her husband Jim, dancing, singing, cooking, and spending time with family.

Marie is survived by her husband Jim Allen, son Joe Banfield, grandchildren Danielle, Jake and Josh Banfield, great grandchildren Conor and Adeline Lamb, sister Carole Lewis, and brother Bob Nolan. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces & nephews, other relatives and many wonderful friends. She was preceeded in death by her brother Bill, sister Vera and her infant daughter, Glenda.

Visitation will be held Wednesday August 26, 2009 at Raymond Funeral Home from 5-8 pm with a memorial service from 7-8 pm. Her ashes will be interred with her mother, Carolyn, on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

The family would like to recognize the nursing staff and Dr. Alikhani at Civista Medical Center for their outstanding care of Marie in her final days. In addition to their professionalism, their empathetic nature and kind assistance were invaluable to Marie and her family.
