James Walton Thompson, 79, of Mechanicsville, MD passed away at Genesis Elder Care on August 15, 2009.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Briscoe Warren Thompson and Lillian Howe Thompson. His wife; Mary Ann Thompson. Also by 6 brothers.

He is survived by his Son; James N Thompson (Shari). Daughters; Katherine A. Jenkins (George), Helen M. Grinder, and Sally C. Burroughs (Lewellyn). Sisters; Letha Edwards, and Sarah Ann Lawrence. Sister In Law; Rose Lee Nice and Brother In Law; George Nice. 7 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren.

James Thompson was an active member at the St. Ignatius Hill Top Catholic Church. He enjoyed dancing and going to local dances. He was an avid card player who was always at card parties. He was a hard worker. Enjoyed his grandchildren and was a loyal and dependable father that was married in 1958 until the time of her death in 1994 to the late Mary Ann Thompson for 36 years.

There will be a viewing at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2009 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with prayers at 7:30 pm. A service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, August 20, 2009 at 10 am with interment to follow at the Christ Church Cemetery in Wayside, MD. Donations may be made to Hospice of Charles County.
