Bernard Bell Jr., 69, of Bryantown died Aug. 6, 2009, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton.

Mr. Bell worked for Chaney Enterprises in Waldorf as a heavy equipment operator.

Born Nov. 18, 1939, in Malcolm, he was the son of the late Bernard Sr. and the late Ruth Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Odessa Bell; children, Brenda, Renee, Iris, Bernard and his wife, Wanda, Reda and Jean; sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Curtis, Imogene Shanks, Joyce Douglas and Gloria Ford; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 14 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown. The Rev. Rory Conley will officiate. Burial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, with military honors.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
