Mary Thomas was the daughter of the late Clarence and the late Anna Broyles.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed her family, picnics, cards, softball and sewing. She married her husband of 63 years in October 1943 in Baltimore and eventually moved their family to Dentsville, where they lived since 1954. She was the school secretary for Glasva School for many years, until she retired from the Charles County Board of Education in 1981 because of her health. She remained active in the community volunteering with her church, the La Plata United Methodist Church and the 2N1 club. She was very active in the choir at her church and the Methodist Women, serving at the Charles County Fair food booth. She also was a poll worker for the board of elections.

She is survived by her husband, Griffth Gipson Thomas, children, Allen C. and his wife, Patricia Thomas, Wilbur "Dick" and his wife, Darlene Thomas, Barbara Ann and her husband, David Whitman, Janet Elizabeth and her husband, David Clark and Joyce Lorraine and her husband, John Radtke; brother; Robert L. Broyles; sister, Verna Lee Hollingsworth; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
