Lena Julia Parker, 83, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly from Oxon Hill, MD died August 1, 2009 at home. Born January 28, 1926 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Saverio Buonviri and Concetta Casale. She was a totally devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was always there for her family. As a homemaker, she was a fantastic cook and loved music of all kinds.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William James Parker; brothers, Dominic Buonviri and Frank Buonviri and sisters, Frances Collova, Rose Vammino and Mary Osborne.

She is survived by her children, Susan Elizabeth Donachy, William James Parker, Carol Ann Nichols, Catherine Mary Friason and Tina Marie Slaughter; sisters, Edith DePew and Anna Quick; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren

The family will receive relatives and friends for Lena's Life Celebration on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 12:00 noon in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD 20659. The Reverend Pittman will officiate. Interment will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD at a later date.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Edwards, Larry Friason, Joe Friason, Lee Sandy, Randy Slaughter and Roger Helman.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt. 3 North, Bldg. A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
