Miroslav S. Dobrovodsky, 69, on Thursday, July 23, 2009, in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. "Miro" was a long time resident of North Beach, MD. He was born in Zilina, Slovakia on August 23, 1939 to Aurelia and Rudolf Dobrovodsky.

He was a well established journalist and lyricist when he left his native Czechoslovakia in 1968 after the Soviet invasion of the country. He came to the US from Canada in 1975 and devoted 27 ½ years to the Voice of America in Washington, DC, serving first as a journalist and later as the Chief of Czechoslovak and Slovak Services.

He is survived by his wife, Jarmila, his children Barbara, Alex and Mia and his sons in law, David and Rick. Also, five adoring grandchildren, Melanie, Nicholas, Alex, Aidan and Addie, in addition to his former wife, Monica, relatives in Slovakia and many devoted friends.
