Dorothy Katherine Thomas, age 50, died July 28, 2009 at her residence in Dunkirk, MD. Dorothy was born September 25, 1958 in New London, CT to Gerald G. and Dorothy Fenker Hinman.

She was raised in Annapolis and attended St. Mary's catholic schools in Annapolis, graduating in 1976. She attended Anne Arundel Community College and received an Associates Degree in Business. She was employed by Nationwide Insurance Company as a claims examiner for twenty seven years, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. She married Robert T. "Tommy" Thomas on June 26, 1982, and they lived in Annapolis until moving to Dunkirk in south county in 1989.

Dorothy enjoyed watching her children's sports, most recently her son's travel baseball team. She loved crabbing and being on the water, and enjoyed bowling, camping and music. She was also a member of the Annapolis Fleet Reserve.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother Gerald G. "Gerry" Hinman. She is survived by her devoted husband Tommy Thomas, her daughter Chelsea E. Thomas and son R. Truman Thomas, both of the home, a sister Patricia "Sissy" Cabase of Harpers Ferry, WV and brothers William "Billy" Hinman of Urbanna, VA and David Hinman of Annapolis.

A memorial gathering and celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Sunday August 2 from 1-3 pm at Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD. Interment will be private.
