Daniel Kempster Morgal, 86 of North Beach, MD died July 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born January 8, 1923 in Washington, DC the son of John W. and Hilda (Hunter) Morgal, Sr. and educated in Washington, DC schools.

Dan joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and received a Navy Commendation for outstanding heroism in action in the defense of Empress Augusta Bay Beachhead, Lougainville, Solomon Islands in 1943 and a Presidential Unit Citation for heroism in action during the invasion and recapture of Guam. He was discharged from the Marine Corps as a PFC in 1945. He later joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served until 1953.

He married the former Rose Sita in Washington, DC and they resided in White Plains, MD. Dan was employed as a mechanic for Lustine Chevrolet in Hyattsville, MD for over 20 years retiring in 1962. He also assisted his brother John in his plumbing business. He moved to North Beach in 1998. Daniel was a painter and skilled wood carver making animals, trains and trucks. He also wrote stories of his escapades as a child as well as love stories. Dan also loved fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother. Surviving are a nephew John W. Morgal, III (Joy) of North Beach, MD, 2 nieces Peggy Henderson (Wally) of Mechanicsville, MD and Trudy Morgal of North Beach, MD, numerous great nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Lucky.
