Reverend Paul Thomas Twiddy, 86, of Charlotte Hall died peacefully July 2, 2009 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born October 28, 1922 in Paris, France, he was the son of the late Dan Wilford Twiddy and Josephine Joan Griffet Twiddy.

Father Twiddy came to America when he was 2 years old and grew up in Takoma Park, MD. He attended Catholic University where he studied French, and also attended school at George Washington University. Father Twiddy was ordained as a Catholic priest on June 7, 1952 at St. Matthews Cathedral by Archbishop Patrick O'Boyle. He served at many parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington, among them Our Lady Queen of Peace in S.E. Washington, St. Jerome's in Hyattsville, St. Matthew's Cathedral and St. Mark's in Hyattsville. He also served in Chichilda, New Mexico.
While at St. Matthew's Cathedral, he, along with Monsignor Cartwright, assisted at the funeral of President John F. Kennedy.

Father Twiddy came to the Charlotte Hall Veteran's Home in 1993 and lived there until his death. Having no surviving relatives, Father Twiddy considered the people at
Charlotte Hall his family.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 3-9p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD where a Vigil Mass will be held at 7:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
