Slye, Mildred Louise Thomas, Age 82 of Newburg, Maryland.

Mildred Louise Thomas Slye was born May 5, 1927 in Thompkinsville, Maryland to the late Joseph Thomas and the late Carrie Moore Thomas.

She passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the La Plata Center, Genesis Eldercare Nursing Home in La Plata, Maryland.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gilbert Slye, son, James Maurice Slye and four brothers.

Mil as she was more affectionately called was a witness for Jehovah for 33 years. She enjoyed listening to music and her favorites were Oldies but Goodies and Jazz. She also enjoyed the outdoors and played activities such as volley ball and kick ball when the weather permitted. She was most passionate about sharing her faith in door to door ministry. She was a loving mother and loved to laugh. She also loved children and spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish precious memories are: daughter, Alease; sister, Mary K. Chisley; brothers, William Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Wallace Thomas, Charles Thomas; sisters-in-law, Margaret Johnson, Gladys Thomas and Viola Thomas; brothers-in-law, John Chisley, Richard Edelen and Gustine Edelen and a host of other relatives and close friends.

Her Viewing will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2009 from 11:00 am until time of Service, 12 noon at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 5335 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A. Pomonkey, Maryland.
