Mrs. Smith was an Executive Assistant for more than 30 years with the Government Accounting Office (GAO) in Washington, DC. She was a member of the Pride of Southern Maryland Temple Number 651 (Daughters of I.B.P.O.E. of W. Bryans Road, MD) and a member of the Classic Ladies Bowling Organization. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards, and family gatherings.

Daughter of the late James Wilfred Johnson and the late Sallie Ann Young Johnson

Predeceased by her parents, her brother, William Johnson, and her sister, Helen Brown.

Survived by her husband, V. "Benny" Smith; daughters, Sheila Smith-Anthony of Laurel, MD, Bridgette Smith-Jones of La Plata, MD, Tracey L. Smith of Waldorf, MD, sons, Steven (Lisa) Smith of Ft. Washington, MD, and Kenny L. Smith of Largo, MD. Also survived by her grandchildren, Tristan (Shonita) Jones, Damien L. Smith, Brandon M. Woods, Steven L. Smith, Jr., Michael A. Somerville, Miesha L. Adams, Nicholas A. Somerville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friday, June 26, 2009 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, La Plata, MD.

Interment: Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
