Mr. Chanonich retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He was a life-long member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church of Conemaugh, PA. He was a World War II Army Veteran, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic War Veterans, Conemaugh-Franklin American Legion, Conemaugh Firemans Club, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He was son of the late John Chanonich and the late Mary Hrivnak Chanonich.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, George, Alex, and John Chanonich; three sisters, Anna and Margaret Chanonich, and Marie Rego.

He is survived by his wife, former Irene Mary Mills Chanonich; daughter Kathleen Mary Fesko (Thomas F.) Prucnal of Waldorf, MD; five granchildren, Stacey (Timothy) Herron, Amy (John) Semiklose of Waldorf, MD, Thomas M. (Sharon Boyden) Prucnal of Mechanicsville, MD, Stephanie Urban of Johnstown, PA, and Michelle (Paul) Bollenbach of Tampa, FL; eight great granchildren, Christopher, Chelby, Chloey, and Casey Semiklose of Waldorf, MD, Paul and Shannon Bollenbach of Tampa, FL, and Caleb and Kiera Freedline of Johnstown, PA. Also survived by three sisters, Helen Hutzel, Jean Meredith, and Irene Brazil, all of Conemaugh, PA.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 1 to 2 PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Memorial Service will follow on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 2 PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel.

Interment will take place at a later date in PA.
