Raymond Horace Wallace Jr., (fondly known as Ray) was born on April 27, 1957 in Washington, DC. He was the oldest son of the late Raymond and Cecelia Wallace. On Wednesday, May 27, 2009, Ray courageously and boldly departed this life and entered into eternal rest with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Ray attended Charles County Public Schools and was a graduate of Lackey High School class of 1976. During his tenure at Lackey High School, he was in the starting five line-up and well known for playing basketball.

Ray also attended the Vocational Technical Center and was taught the trade of automotive mechanics. He became a certified mechanic and worked many years for Roy Budd and Rick Automotive Service Centers. He later transitioned to his own self-employed business and became a legend in Charles County Maryland for repairing automobiles.

Ray was always excited during the football season and you could find him at home watching his favorite team, the Washington Redskins. He enjoyed family gatherings and always told stories from long ago. Ray cared deeply about his family and assisted greatly with caring for his parents. He was a loving son, who responded to their every need at any time of the day or night.

Ray was united in marriage to Joan "Janice" Thompson on October 28, 2000. His memories will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife Joan. Children: Raymond III, Eboni and Tyrell; Step-son: James Thompson; Mother and Father-in-law: Mary and James Thompson; Son-in-law: Joseph Cobey; Grandchildren: Katrac and Jakeya Cobey, Shaniya Wallace and Jamari Carter; Siblings: Patrick and Patricia Smoot, Michael (wife Cherie), Janette Yates (husband Cyril) Andre (wife Rita), Kelvin (wife Tornnette), Annette West (husband Eugene); Sister-in-laws: Mary Keller (husband Bill), Connie Simms, Viola and Christine Thompson; Brother-in-laws: Daniel (wife Karla), Howard (wife Robin), Dennis, John, Joseph, Eugene and Mark Thompson; Aunts: Irene Bond (husband John), Theresa Johnson (husband Garfield), Mary Yates, Elizabeth Smoot and Rosalee Reeves; Uncles: James (wife Alice), Thomas (wife Stephanie) John and Robert Smoot; Long time friends: Vincent Taylor and Jimmy Queen; Neighborhood buddies: Robert (B.J.) Jones, Marvin Carroll and Prince Williams. Ray also has a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Cecelia Wallace; Daughter: Shaneka Wallace-Cobey.
