![]() Emma L. Paddy Morgan, 79, a resident of Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick, died May 28, 2009 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Emma was born December 22, 1929 in Chesapeake Beach, and lived in Chesapeake and North Beach most of her life.
She attended public school in Chesapeake Beach, and married Junior Wesley "Wes" Morgan on March 25, 1948. They lived in Washington, D.C. and later in New Orleans, LA while Mr. Morgan served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Calvert County after his discharge in 1953, and lived on the Morgan farm in Chaneyville for several years before settling in Chesapeake Beach in 1956. Mr. Morgan died November 22, 1999, and Emma lived in North Beach, Dunkirk and in Easton, MD with her daughter Celia prior to moving to the nursing center due to declining health. Emma was employed for many years as a waitress at the Rod and Reel, Stinnett's and Ewald's restaurants, retiring in 1992. She also had been a school bus driver in Calvert County for Raymond Trott's bus service. She was a member of North Beach Union Church, and an active member of Stallings-Williams American Legion Auxiliary Unit 206 in Chesapeake Beach where she served as President many times, cooked oysters for the bull roasts, and helped at the Legion breakfasts. She was also a former member of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Emma loved dancing, family gatherings and cookouts, playing cards, camping, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Wes, her parents Maurice C. and Helen Hall Paddy, a grandson Gregory Short, brothers Roy, James, Albert, Arthur and Robert Paddy, and sisters Dorothy Patterson, Frances King, Marian Lyons, Margaret Phipps, Betty Clark and Edna Paddy. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Cecilia "Celia" Bodmer and husband George of Easton, MD, sons Joseph Wesley Morgan and wife Cissy of Charlotte Hall, MD, Randy Lee Morgan and wife Wanda of Prince Frederick and John Leland Morgan of Auburn, ME, her brother Thomas Paddy of Huntingtown and her sister Doris Cochran of Chesapeake Beach. She is also survived by grandchildren George W. and Earl "Lou" Bodmer, Doug Short, Laura King, Thomas "TJ" Hance and Christen Morgan, and great-grandchildren Quaid Irving, Ian Stewart, Ashley Stinnett, Jacob King, Tatum, Erin and Dane Bodmer, and Matthew and Collin Short.
