James Harold Jackson, "Oink", 79 of La Plata and formerly of Hughesville died on May 23, 2009 at Genesis Eldercare in LaPlata, MD.

Born October 18, 1929 in Benedict Maryland, he was the son of the late Gladys Rollins Jackson and Joseph B. Jackson.

Mr. Jackson was a retired office manager from Southern Maryland Electric Company. He was a life member of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad where he served in many offices including Captain and Treasurer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Washington Redskins. Mostly he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Great -grandfather.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife Charlotte Hayden; his sons and their wives James D. Jackson and Kathy and Michael A. Jackson and Laurie; his stepson and his wife Kevin Hayden and Jeannette; his brother O'Neil Jackson and his wife Sophie; his grandchildren Randy, Shelby, and Hunter Jackson and Grant and Elle Hayden; and his great-grandson Chad Jackson.

He is pre-deceased by his brother Cecil Jackson and his sister D. Marie Jackson.

Friends may attend his Life Celebration on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. Fireman's prayers will be said at 7pm. Mass of Catholic Burial will be on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown at 11am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends and family will gather after the funeral at Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
