Chester Winfield Stallings, age 78, died May 21, 2009 at his home in Chesapeake Beach. He was born January 22, 1931 in Randle Cliff, MD to George and Pearl A. Fowler Stallings.

He was raised in Chesapeake Beach and attended the former Beach school. He entered the US Army on February 18, 1953, served in the Korean Conflict, and was discharged as a Sergeant on January 31, 1955.

He married Florence Ann Bowen on April 7, 1956 and they lived in Chesapeake Beach. Chester worked as a slot machine mechanic at the Rod and Reel Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach, and after the demise of the slot machine industry in the late 1960's he worked as a bartender at the Rod and Reel and at the former Chaney's Restaurant in the Beach until retiring in 1980.

Chester was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, enjoyed crabbing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion, Stallings-Williams Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Chester W. Stallings, Jr., sisters Roberta Hall, Betty Grierson, Virginia Henderson and Thelma Stallings and brothers James and Norman Stallings.

He is survived by his devoted wife Florence Ann Stallings, daughters Denise R. Paddy and husband Earl of Chesapeake Beach and Cathy W. Sullivan and husband Mike of Presque Isle, Maine. He is the grandfather of Russell Willey, Chasity Walker, and Michael, Brett, Brittany, Hunter and Colby Sullivan, and the great-grandfather of Brandon and Cove Willey and Seth and Alyson Walker. He is also survived by a brother Leon Stallings of Wayson's Corner, MD.
