A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at 11AM in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing and Visitation will be Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 5PM till 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel.

Anne Bowles Abell, 89, of Hollywood, MD died December 9, 2006 in St. Mary's Nursing Center surrounded by her family. Born June 3, 1917 in Hollywood, MD she was the daughter of the late William Wallace and Ellen G. Hayden Bowles.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Abell, Sr. in Patuxent River, MD on September 29, 1961 whom she married on April 14, 1941.

She is survived by her children: Mary Ellen Glass and her husband George of TN, Robert W. Abell, Jr. and his wife Lois, Janet C. Sally, Joan E. Beavers and her husband Paul, Carole A. Russell and her husband Bobby, William Wallace Abell and his wife Bonnie and Angela A. Dean and her husband Bill all of Hollywood, MD, Doris A. Gamble and her husband John of PA and Norbert P. Abell and his wife Debbie of Chaptico, MD; 26 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son in-law: Rod Sally and siblings: Helen Wilkinson, Minnie Hill, Margaret Cross, William Bowles, Douglas Bowles, Oswald Bowles and Ellen Bowles.

Mrs. Abell was a life long St. Mary's County resident where she attended St. Mary's Acacemy. Her main goal and accomplishment was to raise her 9 children which she loved spending time with. She also enjoyed playing cards, growing flowers and she was an avid bird watcher. Who especially enjoyed humming birds.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 7:00 PM.
