Dr. William Creagh Mulford died Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Burlington, his home, in Avenue, Maryland. He was born on March 5, 1932, in Binghamton, New York, to the late Leo Shea and Alice Cecelia (Creagh) Mulford.

He is survived by his wife, Claire Irene (Broderick), and his children, Hon. William Creagh II (Kimberly Leonard), Dr. Thomas Broderick (Rosemary Greene), David Laurence, and Mary Claire. Grandchildren: Emma Grandfield, Esq (George), Lucy, William III, Caroline, Douglas, Jacob, Madeleine, and Catherine, and a great-grandson, Henry Grandfield. Cousins: Helen Veres, Margaret Malloy, and Mary Ann Shell. Sister and brother-in-law Karen and Harold O'Keefe, and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, brother Robert, father, and mother-in-law Thomas and Bena Broderick, and brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Mary Broderick.

He graduated from Binghamton Central High School, Mount Saint Mary's College, and New York Medical College. Both medical internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology were completed at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, New York.

As a United States Navy Lieutenant, Medical Corps, he sailed aboard troop transports to Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Dr. Mulford was the first Obstetrician Gynecologist in St Mary's County, MD, practicing at St. Mary's Hospital from 1965 to 1997, delivering more than 7,000 infants.

Book collections in his library ranged from Freddy the Pig to medicine, art, sports, the restoration of Burlington, Mulford genealogy dating from 1639, and ancient to modern history. They, along with many life experiences, led to his memorable storytelling.

He held deep pride and unconditional love for his friends, his country, and above all, his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to ACTS, Bushwood, MD, St. Mary's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, or the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be held on May 9th at 11 a.m. Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen, Maryland.
