Elsie Alderman Quesenberry, 90, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026 at her home in St. Mary's County. She was in good health up until her passing.

Born on September 14, 1935, Elsie was the daughter of the late Dock and Verna Alderman of Meadows of Dan, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Warren Quesenberry, who passed away on April 15, 1988. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth Alderman and Philip Alderman both from Southwest, Virginia and her granddaughter, Christina Quesenberry from Mechanicsville, Maryland.

Elsie attended high school in Willis, Virginia. Shortly after school, she married her husband Warren Quesenberry who was from Buffalo Mountain in Meadows of Dan, Virginia. They were wed in the State of Georgia where he was stationed in the Army. Soon she returned to her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest, Virginia where she lived with her new baby Charles, as her husband went to serve in the Korean Conflict.

Elsie went on to receive her Virginia license as a certified beautician. She owned and operated a beauty salon in the town of Meadows of Dan, Virginia, where she was born and lived for several years before moving to Southern Maryland with her husband for his work in the timber business. For over 70 years, Elsie cut her children's hair and other family members for their entire lives with great style and attention to making them look their very best.

Elsie was a true artist with great talent for crocheting many types of designs and creations that she shared with all her family members. Elsie also had a love for the land and gardening. She definitely had a "green thumb" or maybe two. Her hands were never idle as she was able to grow the most beautiful roses and all types of flowers, plants, vegetables, and fruit trees. She took great pride in her front yard and yearly vegetable garden. She also loved to give beautiful flower arrangements to friends and family. She was truly a good wife, loving mother, and homemaker.

Elsie had many cats through the years that she loved along with a couple little Chihuahuas. One was called "Teeny" that she had to share its attention with her husband when he came home from a long day at work. She was also known for her cooking and baking. Some of her specialties remembered by her children were her biscuits and gravy, delicious Sunday dinners with meatloaf and mashed potatoes, a beautiful German chocolate cake with cherry filling, her gingerbread, fabulous banana pudding, along with everything she would make that had one very special ingredient!

Elsie always knew that her greatest accomplishment was her beloved family. They meant everything to her and were her whole world! She loved spending time with her children, especially her sons who all lived very close to her along with her daughter and son-in-law who she would visit in Virginia on many occasions. She also would go back to her hometown every year for a large family reunion where she would visit with her sister Bonnie and family and also her brother Wayne and his family along with other extended family. She loved and cared for her grandchildren through the years and loved to go back to her family home in the mountains with her family to spend summers with her parents. Elsie also enjoyed being with her younger brother Kelly who would take her for lunch, shopping, drives in the country, and always searching local farmer's markets for strawberry and other plants along with finding apples in season so that she could make applesauce for her family.

Elsie will be remembered for her quiet strength, determination, and devotion to her family!

Elsie is survived by her children: Charles Quesenberry (Madge), Brandywine, MD, her daughter, Evalee Quinn (Sonny) Ferrum, VA, Robert Quesenberry (Tammy), Darrell Quesenberry, and Paul Quesenberry, each from Mechanicsville, Maryland.
