Robert Junior Owens, a longtime resident of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on May 23, 1948, in Kentucky, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert and Rosa Lee Owens. He later made his home in Mechanicsville, where he lived for over 30 years and became a familiar member of the community.

Robert was drafted during the Vietnam War, where he became a staff sergeant within 6 months of serving. He trained other soldiers on the Howitzer Artillery Weapon.

Robert worked for many years as a skilled autobody man, taking pride in his craft and his ability to bring old cars back to life. You could always find him in the garage working on his next side job. He loved classic automobiles, and in his spare time, he enjoyed working on them. He gave so much to his friends and family, never expecting anything in return. Helping others is what brought him happiness. He loved telling jokes, sometimes not the most appropriate, but he loved making people laugh anyway. He enjoyed singing songs (his version). Friday nights were always his favorite because he got to play cards with family and friends. He looked forward to summertime because it meant crabs, corn on the cob, cookouts, and trips to Kentucky to visit his family, whom he loved and missed very much. Above all, Robert treasured the time he spent with his children, who meant the world to him. He would always say that he was "their dad, the best friend they ever had."

His loving children survive him: Lisa Michele Reed (John), Kimberly Renae Cook (Jimmy), and Robert Sean Owens (Angie), he is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Alisha Arnold, Courtney Reed, Brianna Chialastri, Kayla Chialastri, Britney Beall, Lexi Wood, Camryn Cook, AJ Cook, Robert "Kobe" Owens, and Sean "Tyler" Owens; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his siblings Leslie Owens, Lena Allen and Ruth Pyles.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert's life at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Interment with military honors will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, located at 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, Maryland.

Robert will be remembered for his humor, his heart of gold, his love of music and cars, and his devotion to his family and most importantly his children. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
